CHANEL HAUTE COUTURE SPRING 2013 RE-IMAGINES THE VICTORIAN ERA

By DAWN ELARDO
It's that time of the year again: Haute Couture week 2013 in Paris; and as per usual, the house of Chanel by Karl Lagerfeld is one of the main haute attractions.  The Chanel fashion show showed at its usual venue, at the Grad Palais this passed Tuesday.  The couture man of the hour described the setting for the show as, "a magical forest mixed with an antique theater, but done in wood."

Lagerfeld who often have his artistic inspirations come to him while sleeping said, "I saw it in my dream.  I put into paper, had it sketched and gave it to the men who built my set."

The silhouettes of the collection began with the classic, yet newly designed Chanel suits with armor infused sleeves, while still keeping in line with Parisian or Park Avenue regalia.

And then came the haute couture gowns and dresses, which endeavors to re-imagine the fashion circa the Victorian era and executes it the way only  Karl Lagerfeld could.

In a post interview of the show, Mr. Lagerfeld described the Chanel Haute Couture 2013 collection as, "sophisticated craziness with discipline." Have a watch at the full show (featured above), as well as some looks (featured below after jump).
