JASON SCHWARTZMAN & JOHN BALDESSARI: A CALIFORNIA ART MOVEMENT?

By LINA LORNA
Indie-film-prince Jason Schwartzman and distinguished American conceptual-artist, John Baldessari team up to promote, Pacific Standard Time: the upcoming  collaboration amongst 60 cultural institutions for sixth months starting this October exhibited through out Southern California.

As a collective effort to celebrate the art scene in Los Angeles, the theme will revolve around a post World War II dedication — translated mostly by the reactions and side-effects that transformed during the 1960s and 1970s.  The social implications during the 60's and 70's era, provoked strong pivots in the art world — giving births to movements of pop, modernist, minimalist and multimedia art forms.

Have a watch at the promotional video above, starring Jason Schwartzman and John Baldessari. Plus another video (featured below) of a conversation between Anthony Kiedis (lead singer of Red Hot Chili Peppers) and pop-artist, Ed Ruscha — definitely an obscure but interesting discussion in the company of a musician and a painter — comparing notes on their works.
