Tom Ford has returned with his newly launched Spring/Summer collection for 2011.  He prefers to be called Mr. Ford now; and he also prefers to go against the grain of instant web gratification--of unveiling fashion shows live online.

After a six year hiatus, the carefully calculated event marked his return to women's fashion. Mr. Ford has hardly been taking it easy since he left his post at Gucci in 2006, he's been concentrating on his menswear line, and dressing some of Hollywood's leading men, such as Brad Pitt and Pierce Brosnan.

He's even successfully directed his first film, A Single Man, which received multiple award nominations. In a stark contrast from his days at Gucci, Mr Ford made a point to use models and celebrities of all sizes and ages--wanting to make clothes for the real women this time around. His goal was to make wearable fashion--inspired by the softer version of a seventies throwback.

Julianne Moore (pictured right), who starred in his film, dazzled in a pink cream seventies style flapper dress made out of silk fringe. Lisa Eisner walked out with a low cut black gown paired with a black bustier mesh, opulent gold jewelry pieces and a boldly enlarged feather hat, which surprisingly all worked together. Rita Wilson pulled a show stopper with an anything but simple black dress, an elongated see-through lace gown that showed off her still stunning form. And Beyonce Knowles' fabulous figure was proclaimed brightly in a tight shimmery silver not so little number (pictured above).

"I want fashion to be fun again," Mr Ford told the New York Times.  Ford is finally designing for himself and his celebrity friends these days, relinquishing any fashion houses' conditions but his own.  And from the looks of this celebrity induced fashion party, his muses were quite amused indeed.
