THE GOOD NEWS ABOUT THE DECADE ACCORDING TO HANS ROSLING

United Nations's Top 8 Goals of the Millennium

A professor of global health at Sweden's Karolinska Institute as well as the developer and co-founder of Gapminder World, Hans Rosling's most recent TEDx talk (this past September) speaks of holding the key to the modern concept of progress.  As per usual, Rosling likes to take UN statistics and  UN's goals (pictured above) to present his findings by using his own now popular visualization software: Gapminder (acquired by Google in 2007).

The professor's conclusion from the data represented is as follows: From a humanitarian stand point,  the catalyst to human progress-- is as Karl Marx called it--promoting female education, which is very much indicative of each country's progression.  Rosling's theory goes something like this: Strategically avoiding the climate crisis --> stabilizing population = driving female education + infusing family planning --> lowering child mortality --> lowers number of children per family.
