Arcade Fire is back! The band has officially reappeared with their new album The Suburbs, released today-- after a three year absence since Neon Bible. Have a listen to the entire new album below via NPR. We think you might find that it has the capacity to captivate as much as dare we say it: their 2004 album, Funeral. The album does not fail to deliver: its potential to stimulate the audio pallet is there--like the Funeral album, it conjures up a mixture of strong emotions of sadness followed by sweetness, nostalgia followed by a murmuring melancholy--all the while keeping an at times up beat tempo and a hypnotizing melody that demands one's attention.
Perhaps still too early to call: but we foresee this album as a perfect soundtrack contender for this ensuing fall season. Some of our favorite tracks at first listen are Ready to Start, Half Light I, Suburban War, and Sprawl II. Have a listen and let us know which ones are yours!
