April 24: PopRally hosts Saturday Sessions featuring Forth Estate and Real Estate
Date: Saturday, April 24, 2010
Time: 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM
PopRally will host an afternoon of print-making with Forth Estate, an NYC-based print publishing company, as part of P.S.1's Saturday Sessions. Inspired by Christian Marclay's P.S.1 installation 2822 Records (PS1), 1987-2009,PopRally will use the surplus LPs from the exhibition to create a participatory print-making event. Participants will work with Forth Estate and artists Glen Baldrige, Donna Chung, and Tim Lokiec to screen-print on blank LP sleeves and will be given one of the surplus records to take away with their artwork. The event will also feature a live performance by the psychedelic surf pop band Real Estate.
Saturday Sessions is a new weekly performance series designed to introduce emerging performance artists to New York audiences. P.S.1 has had a long tradition of showcasing performance-based art, from the Butoh dance of Min Tanaka to the films of Jack Smith.
Forth Estate was founded in 2005 by Luther Davis and Glen Baldridge in the interest of producing editioned works by emerging artists using both traditional and technologically innovative approaches to printmaking.
