If you are a lover of Rome, Vespas, Italian culture, Nanni Moretti, foreign films, and or Woody Alen films then this flick is a match made in paradiso for you. Nanni Moretti, known as the Italian version of Woody Allen, did an excellent job capturing his 1993 one man show. Not only did he portray the idiosyncrasies of the protagonist quite brilliantly in the film, he also did a fantastic job executing the stylistic quality of a narrated movie that he wrote and directed as well.
Whenever I desperately miss Roma, I can either look at my hundreds and hundreds of pictures of the city when I spent some time there or I can just watch this movie, which to me is a lot more entertaining since I've already looked at my pictures about a billion times. Caro Diario, never fails to amuse and fascinate in some way or form. Here's one of my favorite clips (01/10). Click play up untill 10 and let me know what you think.
Oh and FYI, Moretti won Best Director in 1994 for this at the Cannes Film Festival, just in case you were wondering.
