HOME, a film made by Yann Arthus-Bertrand, once a French actor during his teens, but whose background has since been deeply rooted in environmental photography. This explains the stunning imagery of the natural wonders captured throughout the movie. As the viewer you can really experience the passion that went into the research encapsulated in a literal world-view of our earth through the lens of someone who is completely in love with it.

I saw this movie screened on the lawns of central park, and it was spectacular and fitting to watch while surrounded by New York’s version of a natural atmosphere. I highly recommend watching the film from beginning to end. At first, the background music distracted me a bit. I thought it sounded slightly dramatic and manipulative. That is up until I realized that the soundtrack actually represents the voice of mothernature in the flesh, talking to you and me about the dire position we have put our earth under.

The after thought still lingers, inspiring me just to be more conscientious of how much I consume, and to be constantly mindful of even the little things like, “Do I really need to have certain lights on?” Or, “Do I really need to have the water running the whole time I’m brushing my teeth?” “Does my computer need to be on while it remains unused?” "How much food did I waste today?" And the list can be quite extensive here… Watch it and let me know what you think and if it has affected your daily thought about how much you waste.

The French media has reported that because this movie was launched right before the parliament election in France, it affected the results of the polls to be more in favor of the Green Party. Can you believe it? France actually has a Green (Environmental Friendly) Political Party! I was told it's been around for almost two decades. France also takes the example of being one of the countries around the globe least dependent on oil. As of 2008, France has been the world leader in using nuclear power (Electricite de France EDF) as a source of electricity.

The last thought I wanted to share with you is how incredible the unusual amount of rain has been in New York this pre-summer season. And I’ve been hearing all sorts of grumblings about it coming from left to right. But in actuality, all the complaining should probably be directed to all of us, as I wouldn’t be surprised if it is purely a reaction/correlation to something harmful we did to set it off…

Scientists detect that we only have about a decade to get our act together…I say let’s pay attention to the signs now before catastrophes are upon us. We cannot afford to to wait for our government to make sanctions; we are all responsible.

Hence, without further ado, here’s the movie. So get your snacks ready and enjoy the ride!
